RockZilla

“RockZilla”

– “Word on the street: You’ve had a meet…

       With RockZilla!!!” –

During the latter months of 2008 – around the time that I started the writing the music for “Uncovered” (2010) – I was playing songs like “Cross Roads” by Robert Johnson and Eric Clapton at The Dockyard Theatre in Durban: 6 nights a week…

In that context I did a lot of research into the mysticism that often accompanies the legend of great musicians concerning the diabolical figures that they often accredit their fates to, and I couldn’t resist the same temptation. To me it seemed at the time that I had been sold out for a pittance to a fate of attaining a life long career of playing music – MY DREAM – but for a very expensive and painful price: I perceived my first marriage to have failed because of my mere desire to be a pro musician (at the time this was the only reconcilable conclusion I could carry on living with) and allowed my imagination to wander along these paths…

The music was a result of listening to LOTS of Led Zeppelin – my all time favourite band: The drumming again at half time accentuating the groove of the guitar riffs, which are played with a Les Paul…

– “Now all the King’s horses and all the King’s men

      Tried to put me back together again;

           But they can’t, no they can’t….”
