This is an acoustic guitar instrumental piece, which employs finger picking technique. It’s basically the result of having produced “Memoirs: Simon & Garfunkel” which is a tribute show. In the process of learning the music – specifically Paul Simon’s musical arrangements – I had an opportunity to really brush up on that aspect of my playing which – up until that point – had required that I play lots of classic hard rock and electric guitar material. I really worked my ass off to ensure that my interpretation of the material was authentic.
I started playing around with the musical idea, and even tried to write lyrics and an accompanying vocal melody. I found however that the guitar melody was so strong and pronounced that attempting to sing anything over it detracted from the ‘solemn’ effect that the music creates.
I am the kind of person who doesn’t mind being alone. I have also been blessed to have been able to holiday in some wonderfully secluded locations, filled with an abundance of untouched natural beauty. The music took my imagination to these places – hence the title. I hope it can do the same for you.
